Onefinity CNC Elite Gen 2 Maintenance Guide
Keeping your Onefinity CNC Elite Gen 2 clean, lubricated, and properly checked is one of the easiest ways to protect your machine, improve performance, and extend the life of your components.
Watch Here ⬇️
The Elite Gen 2 was designed with upgraded dust protection, including integrated ball screw covers, but regular maintenance is still important. Dust, debris, old oil, and vibration can build up over time, especially in busy shops running daily production.
We recommend performing this maintenance every 50 hours of machine use, or sooner if your machine is not performing as expected.
Recommended Maintenance Interval
For best results, inspect and maintain your Elite Gen 2 at the following intervals:
Every 50 hours of use
Sooner if the machine sounds unusual
Sooner if motion feels rough, sticky, or inconsistent
Sooner if cut quality changes unexpectedly
Sooner if your machine is operating in a very dusty environment
Sooner if your machine is not performing as expected
A few minutes of preventive maintenance can help keep your machine running smoothly and avoid unnecessary downtime.
Tools Needed:
Step 1: Blow Off Dust and Debris
Start by using compressed air to blow loose dust and debris away from the machine.
Focus on:
HMI screen and surrounding area
Rails
Ball screw cover areas
Table surface
Around the gantries
Around the Z slider
Any areas where dust tends to collect
The goal is to remove loose debris before wiping or oiling anything. This helps prevent dust from being dragged across the rails or ball screws during cleaning.
Step 2: Wipe Down the Ball Screws and Rails
Next, use a clean rag to wipe down the ball screws and rails.
Thanks to the Elite Gen 2’s integrated dust covers, you may notice there is not much debris on the ball screws or the back sides of the rails. That is normal and means the covers are doing their job. Even so, you still want to remove any old oil, fine dust, or loose debris that may have built up.
Wipe everything down carefully before moving on to lubrication.
Step 3: Blow Out the Ball Nut Area
After wiping the rails and ball screws, use compressed air again to blow out the area around the ball nut.
Blow from both sides when possible and pay close attention to:
The ball nut housing
The ball nut seal area
The sealed bearing areas along the tubes
Any pocket where dust may settle
This step helps clear out loose debris before fresh oil is applied.
Step 4: Oil the Ball Screws
Once the machine is clean, apply a small amount of 3-in-1 oil directly to the ball screws.
The Elite Gen 2 does not have oil ports on the gantries for the ball screws, so the oil should be applied directly onto the ball screw itself. After applying the oil, jog the machine back and forth to work the oil into the ball bearings inside the ball nut.
After jogging the axis, wipe away any excess oil with a clean rag. Too much oil can attract dust and debris, so only a light amount is needed.
Step 5: Oil the Linear Bearings
Next, lubricate the linear bearings.
Place a rag underneath the gantry to catch any excess oil. Then remove the magnetic bearing covers to access the small oil holes in the bearing seals.
Apply a small amount of the included oil into the access holes.
For the linear bearings:
Lubricate both the top and bottom bearings
Use the top holes so the oil can flow downward into the bearing
Apply only a small amount of oil
Replace the magnetic covers after oiling
Wipe away any excess oil
Repeat this process on the X rail and both Y rails.
If you run out of the included oil, you can use 85W140 gear oil, which is commonly available at most auto parts stores.
Step 6: Check the Z Slider Bolts
With the rails and bearings maintained, move on to the Z slider.
The Z slider bolts are among the more likely fasteners to loosen over time due to vibration, so they should be checked during regular maintenance.
Use a 4 mm hex key to make sure the Z slider bolts are snug. They do not need to be overtightened, but they should be secure.
Step 7: Oil the Z Slider Bearings and Ball Nut
While working on the Z slider, lubricate the Z slider bearings and Z ball nut.
Use the included oil on the Z slider bearings and 3-in-1 oil on the Z ball nut. Apply a small amount of oil to the top of the bearings and ball nut, then jog the Z axis up and down to work the oil into the moving components.
After jogging the Z axis, wipe away any extra oil with a clean rag.
Step 8: Check the White Rail-End Bushings
The last item to check is the white bushings located at the ends of the rails.
Inspect each bushing to make sure it is secure. If one is loose, hold it in place with one hand and use a 2 mm hex key to tighten it down.
This is a simple check, but it helps prevent unnecessary movement or vibration at the end of the ball screw assembly.
Final Maintenance Checklist
Perform the following every 50 hours of machine use, or sooner if your machine is not performing as expected:
Blow off dust from the HMI, rails, table, and gantry areas
Wipe down the ball screws and rails with a clean rag
Blow out the ball nut and bearing areas with compressed air
Apply 3-in-1 oil directly to the ball screws
Jog the machine to work oil into the ball nuts
Wipe away excess oil
Remove magnetic bearing covers
Oil the linear bearings through the access holes
Replace magnetic bearing covers
Check and snug the Z slider bolts with a 4 mm hex key
Oil the Z slider bearings and Z ball nut
Check the white rail-end bushings
Tighten loose bushings with a 2 mm hex key
Keep Your Elite Gen 2 Running Smoothly
The Onefinity CNC Elite Gen 2 is built for power, rigidity, and long-term reliability. Regular maintenance helps keep it that way.
By cleaning dust buildup, keeping the ball screws and bearings lubricated, and checking key fasteners, you can help ensure smooth motion, better cut quality, and dependable performance in your shop.
A little routine maintenance every 50 hours can go a long way toward keeping your Onefinity CNC ready for the next project.
